Part One: A List of Popular Tourist Attractions by Continent

One of the many various reasons in which students decide to study abroad is to see the popular attractions in which their region of the world has available to see.  In an effort to inform and guide study abroad students towards visiting some sites to see, I have created a list of many important attractions around the world by continent.  I have will include all continents in the world besides Antarctica, for obvious reasons, in a three part series beginning with Africa and Asia.  However, the blog posts may not be very useful for international students which have conducted in-depth research related to the popular or historical sites in which they desire to witness in person.  These lists are intended for study abroad students in the preliminary stages of the international study process.  The popular attractions have a short description of each site and are in alphabetical order by continent as follows:

-           Africa:
Sterfontein Caves- South Africa is a site titled the “Cradle of Humankind” as a nearly 2 million year old human skull was found there.
Simangaliso Wetland Park- South Africa; has unimaginable scenery with a diversity of wildlife.
Tanzania- Offers a multitude of natural wildlife for observers and tourists to enjoy, such as an African safari, while students can also enjoy hiking or mountain climbing adventures on Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro.
The Sahara- Located in Northern Africa as it is easily the largest desert in the world.
Victoria Falls- Zambia and Zimbabwe; is considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World because of its sheer beauty as it is the largest waterfall in the world.
Cairo Egypt- One of the largest bustling cities in the Middle East is also a quick camel ride to the world famous Pyramids of Giza, Great Sphinx, or the Nile River.

-          Asia
City of Jerusalem- Israel is essentially the heart of known religion in the world as students can visit its capital city's Whaling Wall, Holy Sepulchre, Dome of the Rock, and even stand in the spot which Jesus was crucified.
Temple of Jupiter- Baalbek, Lebanon; Was originally created for worship of the Phoenician god Baal as it is truly a larger version of the Parthenon in Greece.
Petra- Wadi Musa, Jordan; Study abroad students can enjoy an enduring hike to the palace in the hills otherwise known as Petra.
Great Wall of China- Stretches across nearly the entire continent in Asia as it is viewable from space and is always open for tourists.
